Symphony continue the 2006 - 2007 Symphonic Sensations
Concert Series with Latin Fiesta on February
17, 2007. The concert will feature toe-tapping tangos, swaying
salsas, irresistible rhythms, the percussion troupe WoodWorks
and your Gulf Coast Symphony. The concert is at 7:30
pm at Anderson Theater on the Bishop
Verot High School campus. Tickets begin at $25 for
adults and only $10 for children. You may

WoodWorks
Percussion Troupe To Play Electrifying Latin Music
The Gulf Coast
Symphony will host WoodWorks, a percussion
ensemble that features musicians of Southwest Florida,
on the Latin Fiesta Symphonic Sensations
concert February 17, 2007. WoodWorks
was initially formed by a group of classically trained musicians as
a summer project for fun, but it soon turned into more than that!
WoodWorks promotes interest in the marimba and other
percussion instruments as musical instruments through performances
of provocative music written or arranged specifically for these instruments.
Don't miss this enjoyable and educational journey through history
while you visit different cultures through the music of percussion
instruments. A favorite of children and adults alike!

Annual
Dinner and Auction Fundraiser
It's that time of year
again for The Gulf Coast Symphony Annual Dinner and
Auction Fundraiser! Always a hit, this year's theme
is Pirates of the Caribbean. An opportunity for swashbuckling
fun and a chance to help your Gulf Coast Symphony.
Never thought the maestro could make a convincing pirate? Come see
for yourself February 25, 2007 at 6 pm.
Action items include sports and entertainment memorabilia,
restaurant gift certificates, works of art,
health and beauty items
and services. And that's just to name a few! The
fundraiser is held at the Landings Helm Club and
begins at $75 per person and are tax deductible.

Lloyd Webber: Unmasked! at the Barbara B. Mann
Performing Arts Hall on March 31, 2007 at

star Nat Chandler, soprano Shira Lissek,
mezzo-soprano Janelle McCoy and local teen talent
Alexandrea Tocco. Celebrate with the music of one

Symphony will host its annual black-tie Gala
at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall on March
31, 2007 at 6 pm before the Andrew
Lloyd Webber: Unmasked! concert. The Gala includes a
full dinner with desert and wine included
catered by The Flying
Pig, a VIP concert ticket and an
opportunity to meet Broadway star Nat Chandler.
Mr. Chandler recently appeared in the starring role of Percy in the
Tony Award nominated show The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Star Nat Chandler
The Gulf Coast
Symphony hosts Broadway star Nat
Chandler in Andrew
Lloyd Webber: Unmasked! on March 31, 2007
at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. Nat recently
appeared in the starring role of Percy in the Tony
Award nominated show, The Scarlet Pimpernel.
He was featured in the acclaimed Broadway Encores! production of The
Ziegfeld Follies of 1936 and in the 92nd
St. Y’s Lyric and Lyricists Series in An Evening
of Kurt Weill. Nat starred as Raoul
in the first national tour of The Phantom of the Opera,
directed by Hal Prince. Other national tours include
The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber with Sarah
Brightman, Rapunzel’s Prince in Sondheim’s Into
the Woods and Lun Tha in The King and I
with Yul Brynner. His numerous guest artist appearances
include Broadway Pops Concerts for renowned
symphonies including Minneapolis, Arizona, Colorado
Springs, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Utah Symphonies.Nat will be
greeting guests at the Gulf Coast Symphony's annual Gala
preceding the concert.

Soprano
Shira Lissek
Gulf Coast Symphony
proudly welcomes back soprano Shira
Lissek for her third appearance. Shira is a versatile
young American soprano who is equally at home on the operatic, musical
theater and concert stages. Ms. Lissek sang her début as Mimí
in La Bohème with "a lovely,
creamy legato" at the Philadelphia Kimmel Center
with Center City Opera
Theater. This winter, Shira was invited back to perform
her fourth guest recital at The Aaron Copland School of Music
where she and Ravel Scholar, pianist Arbie Orenstein presented a program
titled “Mozart 1756-2006” including songs
and arias of the composer. Shira also appeared in Miami for her second
performance of “Salsa, Strings, and Swing,"
with The Klezmer Orchestra, which fuses Latin and
Klezmer music. Shira's opera performances of note include Donna
Elvira in Don Giovanni with Seattle
Opera, Fiordiligi in Così
Fan Tutte with The Opera Company of Brooklyn and Hat
City Music Theater, the Countess in Le Nozze
di Figaro with Bronx Opera, and Pamina in
Die Zauberflöte with One World Symphony.

Mezzo-soprano
Janelle McCoy
First seen by southwest
Florida audiences as the Mother in the Amahl
and the Night Visitors, nationally-acclaimed mezzo-soprano
Janelle McCoy
performs opera, oratorio, chamber and symphonic works throughout North
America and Europe. Noted for both her artistic and stylistic versatility,
Janelle has made frequent appearances with world-class orchestras,
conductors and artists including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra;
conductors Robert Shaw, Robert Spano
and Donald Runnicles; bass James Morris,
tenor Stuart Neill, sopranos Dawn Upshaw,
Christine Brewer and Andrea Gruber.
Recently named a “best bet” by Naples
Daily News and The News-Press in Ft. Myers, upcoming
engagements include Gertrud (Hänsel und Gretel), Handel’s
Messiah, a gala recital for Opera Naples
and pops concert for the Charlotte Symphony and a
chamber recital with members of the American
String Quartet.

Alexandrea
Tocco
Alexandrea Tocco
will appear with the Gulf Coast Symphony in Andrew
Lloyd Webber: Unmasked! on March 31, 2007
at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. Alexandrea
is an Advanced Placement and Honors student at Fort Myers
High School. She performs throughout southwest Florida with
the Soundwave Show Choir, and as a featured vocalist
with the FMHS Jazz Band. An up-and-coming musical
theater performer, she was seen last year as Amneris
in Elton John's Aida and has performed numerous
productions with Nabbie's, Inc. Alexandrea has performed at the Broadway
Palm Dinner Theatre, as well as at the Barbara B.
Mann Performing Arts Hall with the Southwest Florida
Symphony. She was awarded first place in
voice at the Access Broadway National Finals in
Las Vegas in 2005 and New York
in 2006.

play with us!
The Gulf Coast
Symphony is Southwest Florida's premier community
orchestra. Its members are your neighbors, your doctors,
your lawyers... even your school teachers. Play an instrument and
looking for a way to be a part of a friendly, musical community? Come
play with us! Our orchestra typically rehearses on Tuesday
evenings from 7 pm to 10 pm. An extra rehearsal may
be called the week of a concert. Our repertoire ranges from
classical to pops. Only play the radio? Then tell a friend
or family member who might be more musically inclined about this unique

Are Needed and Welcome!
Volunteers
are a critical component of the Gulf Coast Symphony
team. From stuffing envelopes and distributing posters to helping
with our Box Office, our volunteers help run the show! We also have
volunteer opportunities in event support, fundraising and marketing.
